Energy Healing, But Make It Tapping; Exploring the Transformative Experience of an EFT Session

What is EFT?

Recently, I had the privilege of experiencing an online Tapping session. If you are unfamiliar with EFT/Tapping (

), eftinternational.org describes it as "a simple self-help method that can help relieve stress, ease difficult emotions, and help you feel better. You can use it for a few minutes on your own or in a longer session guided by a practitioner to work through more complex or ongoing issues."

I had limited prior knowledge of Tapping but had heard first-hand success stories. Therefore, when an opportunity arose for my own private session, I was excited to give it a try.

A Little Background Story

When I was around 10 years old, I moved to the United States from Poland. Having left much of my family behind, I make an effort to visit them, though not as often as I would like. Between those visits and the occasional vacation, I can confidently say that I have flown on airplanes quite a bit. While the actual process of traveling has never been my favorite, it was never a significant concern—until it slowly started to become one. Somewhere along the way, after having children, I developed an anxiety about flying. It seems that my maternal instincts kicked in, reminding me that my kids need me to stay safe.

The last time we returned from a family vacation, the plane encountered some minor turbulence that felt anything but minor. In that moment, my mind decided to remind me of something I had read: that the most dangerous part of flying is the landing.

A wave of anxiety washed over me, but thanks to my training, I was able to navigate through it by entering a meditative headspace that I had developed (shameless plug: creating such a space is the first part of my four-class workshop series, "Journey Back to Self").

Fast forward a few months, and I found myself preparing to board a plane once again—this time without my children. It was my first experience flying without them, as if I weren't anxious enough already. Turns out participating in a tapping session just a week prior was perfectly timed.

The Session Experience

Going into the experience, I expected to learn a new tool to rely on during times of emotional need, but I didn't anticipate much beyond that. Instead, I walked away with so much more.

We began the session by discussing the specific issue I wanted to address—my anxiety while flying. We rated the intensity of my feelings on a scale from one to ten, identifying the exact moments I experienced these emotions and noting where they manifested in my body. Then, we got to work. I was pleasantly surprised when the practitioner, Nadezhda from Path to Wellness, asked if I had a peaceful place in my mind. Why, yes, I do! Nadezhda guided me through accessing this mental space, incorporating additional visualizations and tailored verbal mantras while I repeatedly tapped on three points of my body: my forehead, under my eyes, and at my collarbone. I felt my nervous system begin to calm, even as I envisioned myself in the midst of a plane landing. Nadezhda guided me to send love and light forward to my future self, along with all the passengers and crew on the plane. I also requested Spirit (or another term you prefer) to send Reiki energy.

Just when I thought we were finished, we delved even deeper.

Surprises

Although I was pleasantly surprised at some of the similarities between specific advanced Reiki techniques and how Nadezhda led our session, I was not at all prepared for what came next. After addressing the immediate need, we explored the energetic source of this flying anxiety of mine. We were able to hone in on a very heavy, rock like weight centered on my chest.

Trying to explore further all I could think of is "this doesn't belong to me" in fact I'm pretty sure I said out loud a few time "this isn't mine, it feels generational." With my roots in Poland, a country central to WW2, and direct ancestors being involved in the Polish Resistance, you can imagine the trauma that may have been passed down. My intuition was telling me this was stemming from a very real fear of an ancestor (possibly my grandfather) essentially being left an orphan. Side note-for more information about how we can carry inherited emotions check out the article 'How Trauma can be passed down in our DNA' in the 'Further Reading' section of my page, here.

As we used the same techniques from earlier to clear away this emotional baggage, similarly like I would with The Emotion Code, the weight on my chest started to lift and in my mind I heard a very clear "Thank you" while feeling an energetic presence to the left of my shoulder.

Post-Session Reflections

After this profound and unexpected experience, we still had enough time to address some additional anxieties that I had been working on for some time. Nadezhda encouraged me to use tapping during my flight.

A week later, I found myself on a plane twice within just a few days for a whirlwind trip, not quite sure what to expect but armed with the knowledge that I could use EFT to support me whenever I needed it. Surprisingly, I didn't even need to rely on it. Throughout most of both flights, I felt completely calm. The only moment I considered using tapping was during the landing on the return flight. However, I was seated next to someone who was also quite a nervous flyer, and I believe I was mostly picking up on her anxious energy rather than experiencing my own anxiety.

What Can Be Achieved From A Tapping Session

If you are searching for effective techniques, I encourage you to give EFT a try, whether online or in person. Personally, I experienced significantly reduced anxiety and stress levels, along with a greater sense of calm and groundedness.

It's important to remember that, like any energy healing session, everyone's experience will be different. My encounter was viewed through the lens of a Reiki Master and Emotion Code Practitioner who is continuously working on enhancing intuition and psychic skills. This may have contributed to the depth and insight of my experience.

While your EFT session may be quite different, you will at the very least walk away with a new approach to addressing an old problem.
