What is Reiki?
Reiki is a spiritual healing art with its roots in Japanese origin. The word Reiki comes from the Japanese word (Rei) which means “Universal Life” and (Ki) which means “Energy”. Reiki is not affiliated with any particular religion or religious practice. It is not massage nor is it based on belief or suggestion. It is a subtle and effective form of energy work using spiritually guided life force energy.
What does a Reiki Therapist do?
A Reiki therapist, through attunements received during training and certification is able to become a channel for Reiki energy to direct it into someone else in order to support their healing on a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level.
What does Reiki feel like?
Reiki tends to feel warm and profoundly relaxing. You may feel the hands of the Reiki practitioner become hot or tingly. Some people describe a floating sensation, and some see colors or shapes during the session. Some people fall asleep. Some experience emotional release. There is no expected experience, Reiki treatment is unique for each individual who receives it.
The most common results of Reiki treatment include:
-
Perceived reduction in stress
-
Increased relaxation
-
Enhanced sense of balance, centeredness, and calm
Who Can Benefit
Reiki can be used for general wellness as well as for specific issues. Reiki works by assisting to reduce stress, which in turn may create an environment within your body where healing may be more easily facilitated.
Reiki is sometimes used as an adjunct to certain medical conditions on the recommendation of a physician or other health care provider, (e.g., high blood pressure, anxiety, or stress).
What are the benefits of several sessions?
Just like mediation, or movement arts, the effects of Reiki are cumulative. While one session can work wonders, repeated, regular Reiki treatments can invite significant improvement. As an example: if you exercise for an hour, you will receive benefits. If you exercise daily for a month, the results are much more profound. Reiki works similarly – regular sessions support well-being in every way.
Can Reiki “cure” me?
Reiki is a complementary medical art that works well alone as well as in concert with other treatments. Healing is often the result of gentle shifts in awareness, release of emotional patterns, achievement of new understanding, and daily practice. Reiki is not a replacement for traditional medical treatment.
What is The Emotion Code?
When an emotion gets trapped in the body it causes an imbalance which often leads to physical and/or emotional discomfort. The Emotion Code is a safe, gentle, and non-invasive energy healing modality developed by Dr. Bradley Nelson which is used to clear stuck emotions or “emotional baggage” that is being stored in the body, which in turn helps the body to return to its natural balance, helping you to feel more energetic, happier, calmer, more creative, more connected to others and possibly address physical discomfort.
What is emotional baggage?
Most of us have heard the term “emotional baggage,” a term that describes the carrying around of an emotional experience, typically a negative one, past (often way past) the actual event which triggered said emotion. We can take this concept one step further when we consider that each emotion has its own energy. When we experience an emotion and our processing of it is interrupted or incomplete then the energy of said emotion can become lodged in our body becoming a ‘trapped emotion’ which we carry around with us until it can be cleared, thus becoming literal emotional baggage.
What is energy?
Everything in the universe, at the most basic level, is made up of energy. In the context of the Emotion Code, emotions are also made up of energy, miniscule subatomic particles of vibrating energy. Each type of emotion has its own vibrations. When we feel an emotion we experience its vibration, we then process it and release. Sometimes, usually when we feel a negative emotion, the process is interrupted and the energy/vibration/emotion doesn’t get released, instead it gets ‘stuck’ somewhere within the body and causes an imbalance that can show up in a myriad of ways. This is where the Emotion Code comes in. Using the Emotion Code, we can easily clear these stuck energies out of the body.

What does an Emotion Code Session look like?
A session is usually 20-45 minutes long. You will be asked to sit comfortably while we identify any trapped emotions using a pendulum or muscle testing. We then clear the emotion using a magnet (with the exception of clients who have device like a pacemaker, ICD or neurostimulator.)
What is a distance session like?
Distance sessions can be done by phone or through Zoom.
What can I expect after a session?
Effects differ from person to person but after your session you may feel different immediately or later on. We highly recommend drinking plenty of water to support the emotional processing, energy shifts and detoxification that may occur. Usually, the body needs 1 to 2 days to fully process the removal. You may experience a resurgence of emotions after a few days; this is usually due to: A) more emotions around the issue needing to be cleared B) a new experience causing a stuck emotion. Remember that healing in any form always happens in layers and stages.

What is a Heart-Wall?
Sometimes trapped emotions form a wall of emotional energy around your heart, we call this the Heart-Wall. When we experience “heartache” or “heartbreak” sometimes in order to protect our heart our subconscious responds by building a barrier or wall to keep it safe. This can be a valuable safety measure in the short term but can cause feelings of unhappiness and disconnect and can stunt the ability to give love to others. Sessions to remove a Heart-Wall are similar to regular sessions but typically require more sessions to remove, on average at least 2-5 sessions.
Reiki, Emotion Code, or Both?
Although Reiki and Emotion Code are both energy therapy modalities whose aim is to restore balance, they differ in their approach and focus. In Reiki we channel universal life force energy to the recipient to promote relaxation, reduce stress, and help the body heal itself. With the Emotion Code we specifically target trapped emotions which cause discomfort and imbalance in the body to release emotional baggage and improve overall well-being. Although they differ from each other, one is no better than the other and can be used together to balance the energetic system and support the release of emotions.

Client/Practitioner Expectations
The first Reiki and Emotion Code sessions begin with a brief interview and client intake form; you may have received this ahead of time via e-mail. You are asked a series of questions so that I may plan the most beneficial session/series of sessions for your needs. An in-person Reiki session is performed on a massage table and you, the client, are always fully clothed. An in-person Emotion Code session is performed with you, the client, sitting comfortably in a chair.
A Reiki session may start with the client lying face up resting comfortably. A session may be hands-on or hands-off depending on your preference, though I primarily work using ‘floating hands’ (hands-off). There is no difference in the benefit experienced by using hands-on versus floating hands over your body. While there is a protocol of hand positions, practitioners also work intuitively as to hand placement and which hand positions to use. If the session is conducted hands-on, hands will rest lightly on your body and there is no manipulation of your body.
An Emotion Code session may start with the client sitting comfortably. Using a pendulum I then search for and identify by name, using the Emotion Code chart, any trapped emotions that are present. Once the emotion is identified, I ensure there is no further information needed before releasing the emotion by running a magnet, or my hand a few inches away from your body, down from the back of your head to upper spine.
If you indicate in the interview or at the beginning of the session that you wish for me to pay attention to a particular injury or issue, I will also concentrate on that area during the session. Clients can ask for different parts of the body to be worked on, or not worked on, and are encouraged to discuss this with me at the beginning of the session.
During the session, clients are encouraged to close their eyes, relax, and inform me if anything makes them uncomfortable, either physically or psychologically. Please feel free to talk with me regarding feedback during the session. I will often talk with you before or after, usually not during as I want you to relax fully during the session. However, if something feels uncomfortable during the session, please speak up immediately; I want to know as soon as possible.
-
I reserve the right to refrain from working on a person who is under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
-
Sexual harassment is not tolerated. If the practitioner’s safety feels compromised, the session is stopped immediately.
